A very late but happy new year to you all! I'm excited to be launching a new blog which will hopefully allow for more creative opportunities and expand our community.
As I reflect on everything that's happened in the first month of the year 2025, I can't help but think about the Januaries of the last few years. How every December 31st, we talk about our hopes for the new year, our ambitions to change, and our dreams for a better and brighter future. And then it seems by January 2nd, that starts to crumble. The looming threat of political upheaval, a "once in a generation" disaster terrorizing thousands of people, or the whispers of a new catastrophe never take long to creep into everyday conversation.
It makes me wonder how often this happened in previous decades. Have things really gotten worse or are we just inundated with doomsday news? Either way, I think it's essential now more than ever to unplug and take some time to get away from it all. At least for those of us who can. If you're monitoring your phone for evacuation notices, then by all means, don't look away.
But plenty of bad news will still be there after a long walk outside or an hour of reading a good book. These Introvert Tea Parties aren't just a way to connect without having to be around people, they're also a way for us to disconnect. I'm challenging myself and all of you to place your phones face down for an hour and enjoy the peace and quiet. Then, even if the rest of is absolute shit, you'll still have moments of peace.
